Nejib Marzouki

Criminal defence lawyer in Tunis

Assistance and defence, from police custody to judgment.

Criminal proceedings put a person's freedom, reputation and future at stake. The firm assists both people who are accused and victims, at every stage: police inquiry, custody, judicial investigation, trial and appeal.

Each case is studied document by document. The defence strategy is built with the client, who is kept informed of the progress of the proceedings and of the choices available.

When to consult

  • You are summoned by the police, the national guard or an investigating judge.
  • A relative is held in police custody or in detention.
  • You are prosecuted before the district court, the misdemeanour chamber or the criminal chamber.
  • You are the victim of an offence and wish to file a complaint or claim damages in the criminal case.
  • You want to appeal a judgment or bring the case before the Court of Cassation.

How the firm works

  1. First meeting

You set out the facts and hand over the documents received: summons, police report, judgment. The firm explains where the proceedings stand and what they involve.

  2. Study of the file

The firm consults the file at the court, checks that each step was carried out lawfully and notes what is useful to the defence.

  3. Assistance at each step

Presence at your side in custody, before the investigating judge and at the hearing; drafting of applications and written submissions.

  4. After the judgment

Explanation of the decision, appeal where it is worthwhile, follow-up of enforcement.

Frequent questions

Can a lawyer assist me from police custody onwards?

Does the firm also act for victims?

Yes. The firm drafts the complaint, assists you during the inquiry and presents your claim for compensation to the court.

What should I bring to the first appointment?

Your identity document and every document received: summons, police report, order, judgment. Also note the dates and the names of the people involved.
